Insurance sector mulls new coverage linked to pandemics

The Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies said that the insurance sector is considering developing a type of insurance cover linked to epidemics and pandemics, Middle East Insurance Review reported. The Algerian insurance market is also preparing to launch a feasibility study into a specific mechanism to offer coverage for economic losses including business interruption in the event of a pandemic, similar to what is available for natural catastrophes.
