Rick Ulmer

McGriff Insurance Services Inc. and McGriff, Seibels & Williams Inc., the retail insurance subsidiaries of BB&T Insurance Holdings, announced Wednesday the rebranding of their businesses to McGriff.

The brand transition, which will take place over the next several months, is “designed to simplify the firm’s overall identity,” according to a statement. It will include a new, single McGriff logo and a consolidated website.

McGriff is also “realigning operations geographically and streamlining processes to position resources closer to clients,” the statement said.

No redundancies are expected through the streamlining efforts, according to an email from a spokesman.

Rick Ulmer will continue as CEO of McGriff, while Tommy Ebner, who was president and CEO of McGriff, Seibels & Williams will lead the firm’s oil and gas practice and serve as a special advisor to Mr. Ulmer, the spokesman said.

“Now, we are simply McGriff one brand, one firm,” Mr. Ulmer said in the statement.

The consolidated McGriff organization will include more than 130 offices across the U.S., with more than 3,800 employees.

BB&T Insurance Holdings is the sixth-largest insurance broker in the world, according to the most recent Business Insurance.

BB&T is a wholly owned subsidiary of Truist Bank. It operates more than 200 offices through subsidiaries McGriff Insurance Services; McGriff, Seibels & Williams; CRC Insurance Services; Crump Life Insurance Services; and AmRisc LLC, the statement said.
