Travelex pays ransomware gang more than $2 million

U.K.-based foreign exchange firm Travelex paid a ransomware gang $2.3 million to regain access to its data following a cyber attack on the New Year's Eve, Bank Info Security reported citing the Wall Street Journal. Following the attack, which crippled the company's customer services for weeks, the ransomware gang claimed to have accessed Travelex's network and then downloaded and encrypted 5GB of data.
