Crawford & Co. named former Lloyd’s of London CEO Inga Beale as an independent director, bringing the number of seats on the claims management firm’s board filled by women to three out of nine.

The move took effect February 11, Atlanta-based Crawford said in a statement Monday.

As an independent director, Ms. Beale will provide “insights, counsel and perspectives that will complement those of the existing board members,” benefiting Crawford’s strategy going forward, Harsha V. Agadi, president and CEO of Crawford said in the statement.

Ms. Beale’s term will expire at the company’s 2020 annual meeting when she will stand for reelection by the company’s shareholders, Crawford said in filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Ms. Beale recently joined the board of law firm Clyde & Co. She was the first female CEO of Lloyd’s and headed the market from 2014 to 2018.
