BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.
To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.
To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.
Sompo International Holdings Ltd. on Wednesday named longtime industry executive Julian James as CEO of its London market and international insurance platforms, succeeding Graham Evans, who is retiring.
Mr. James most recently was president of Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings A.G.’s European platform from 2013 to 2018, according to a Sompo statement. He will join the Bermuda-based insurer in mid-February, pending regulatory approval, a spokeswoman said. Based in London, Mr. James will report to Chris Gallagher, CEO of Sompo International’s commercial P&C business, the statement said.
In his new role Mr. James will lead the strategic expansion of the insurer’s international business, Mr. Gallagher said in the statement.
“Sompo International is committed to the continued growth of our London, Bermudan and European businesses, including the recently formed European platform, SI Insurance (Europe) SA,” he said in the statement.
Mr. James has held numerous leadership positions in the London market, and prior to his role at Allied World was CEO of Lockton International, the international arm of brokerage Lockton Cos. LLC.
He served on the Council of Lloyd’s until January 2019 and is currently a member of the Lloyd’s market supervision and review committee.
