More than $125 million in fines levied under GDPR

A report by law firm DLA Piper said that companies have been fined an aggregate €114 million ($126 million) for breaching European privacy rules, Belfast Telegraph reported. More than 160,000 data breaches have been reported across the European Union, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein since the General Data Protection Regulation rules were introduced in May 2018.
