Oklahoma bill would add chiropractic care to comp

Prefiled legislation in Oklahoma would expand the state’s workers compensation fee schedule to include care provided by a chiropractor.

S.B. 1375, slated to be introduced Feb. 3 by Republican Sen. Kim David, would include chiropractic care among the medical surgical, hospital, optometric, podiatric and nursing services outlined in the state’s workers comp statutes that must be promptly provided to an injured employee if necessary. The bill would also grant the employer the right to choose the treating chiropractor, but allows for an employee to apply for a change of chiropractor via the dispute resolution process outlined in the state’s certified workplace medical plan.

If signed into law, the legislation would take effect Nov. 1, 2020.
