Insurers, reinsurers to raise rates as tensions rise

Jonathan Moss, head of marine and trade at U.K.-based law firm DWF LLP, said that the tensions in the Middle East will lead to marine insurers and reinsurers raising premiums, renegotiating coverage terms and more policy riders and endorsements, Middle East Insurance Review reports. Ships will have to navigate longer routes to avoid dangerous areas and wages of ships' crew will rise owing to the heightened risks of attacks to vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
