Yelp

Welp.

A doctor suing the daughter of a patient who left a negative review on the business website Yelp.com has dropped his $25,000 defamation lawsuit, News Channel 5 in Nashville reported Monday.

The attorney for Dr. Kaveer Nandigam of Nandigam Neurology in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit that accused defendant Kelly Beavers of defamation, libel and false light.

The move to drop the lawsuit comes about two weeks after Ms. Beavers' attorney filed a motion to dismiss. The news station had previously reported that the bad review stemmed from a visit where Dr. Nandigam allegedly “threw a temper tantrum” after he realized the Ms. Beavers was recording her father's appointment on her cellphone, which is something she has done with other doctor visits.

Attorney Daniel Horwitz reportedly said he had fought similar cases in the past and that the doctor’s lawsuit stemming from a Yelp! review had no merit and was nothing more than a scare tactic for leaving a negative review. He told the news station, that the "the whole purpose” of the suit was “to stifle legitimate, accurate and truthful criticism of the business.”
