Risk Strategies appoints COO

Risk Strategies Insurance Brokerage Service LLC said Tuesday it has named Sharon Edwards to the new position of chief operating officer.
The Boston-based company said in its statement Ms. Edwards, who is based in Nashville, will join the firm’s executive committee and lead its operating committee, immediately assuming oversight and management responsibilities for national operations.
Ms. Edwards previously served as chief financial officer of Willis Towers Watson PLC’s corporate risk and broking segment, as well as CFO for its North America segment, Risk Strategies said.
She will report to Risk Strategies CEO John Mina.
Risk Strategies is the 16th largest broker of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance’s latest ranking.
In December, Risk Strategies announced it had acquired the two subsidiaries of privately held Gowrie Holdings Inc.
