Airbnb risk manager named president of RIMS

Laura Langone, head of insurance operations at San Francisco-based Airbnb Inc., assumed the presidency of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. effective Wednesday.
Ms. Langone has been a member of New York-based RIMS for 22 years and joined the RIMS board of directors in 2016, according to a RIMS statement issued on Thursday. She also served as president of the RIMS Silicon Valley Chapter in California for four years. Prior to joining Airbnb in April 2019, Ms. Langone was the head of insurance and risk management at PayPal Inc. according to her LinkedIn profile.
She succeeds Gloria Brosius, director, risk management and insurance for Pinnacle Agriculture Distributions Inc. in Loveland, Colorado.
Ellen R. Dunkin, White Plains, New York-based senior vice president, general counsel & chief risk officer, for Amalgamated Life Insurance Co. was named vice president of RIMS.
Patrick Sterling, senior director, legendary people and risk at Texas Roadhouse Inc. based in Louisville, Kentucky, was named treasurer and Jennifer Santiago, assistant vice president and university risk officer at Penn State University, was named secretary.
New RIMS board members in 2020 are Twane Duckworth, chief of risk management for the City of Jacksonville, Florida, and Tina Gardiner, manager, risk management services, at the Regional Municipality of York, Ontario.
