Axa XL announces reinsurance leadership changes

Axa XL Reinsurance, a division of Axa XL, on Friday announced changes to its business structure and executive ranks, all effective Jan. 1, 2020.

The changes are in addition to those announced in September, the reinsurer said in a statement.

John Welch, Trumball, Connecticut-based chief executive of Axa XL Reinsurance's North America region, who also leads Axa XL Reinsurance's international region, will become chief executive, domestic markets, which will focus on business placed locally by reinsurance brokers and Axa XL Reinsurance clients.  

Rob Littlemore, London-based chief executive, London reinsurance, will become chief executive, global markets, which includes Axa XL Reinsurance's Bermuda and London platforms, the statement said.

Christopher Buse, New York-based head of casualty reinsurance in North America, will become chief underwriting officer of Axa XL Reinsurance North America.

Mr. Buse and Bertrand Romagne, based in Le Mans, Pays de la Loire, France, chief underwriting officer of Axa XL Reinsurance International, will be responsible for managing the day-to-day underwriting of the domestic markets business, the statement said.

Mr. Buse and Mr. Romagne will report to Mr. Welch.

Paul Simons, Hamilton, Bermuda-based head of property, global markets, will become head of Bermuda reinsurance and Marcus Gonzales, head of international casualty, will become head of London reinsurance, and both to report to Mr. Littlemore, the statement said.

Mr. Buse, Mr. Simons and Mr. Gonzales also have been appointed to Axa XL's reinsurance leadership team, which is led by Charles Cooper, chief executive, reinsurance at Axa XL and also includes Mr. Welch, Mr. Littlemore and Mr. Romagne, the statement said.
