Insurance naughty list: A decorated car

Looks like Rudolph the Red-nosed minivan might not be such a festive idea.

That’s according to one car insurance expert chiming in on the matter for an article in Saturday’s The Daily Express newspaper in the United Kingdom.

“Drivers who want to get into the spirit of the season on their daily commutes, by transforming their car into Rudolph the Red Nose Renault, should probably think again if they want to avoid having a blue Christmas this year,” the expert said.

Why? What could go wrong? A driver’s vision of the road could be obstructed. A piece of decoration could fly off and hit another vehicle. Bah. Humbug.

Yet, drivers who plan to decorate their car may be allowed to if they inform their car insurance provider, which will then “determine if you are a bigger threat on the road and will increase car insurance premiums accordingly,” according to the article.
