No insurance

A National Football League player was likely hoping for more time on the clock in paying his injury insurance premium, which he paid one day after being injured.

He is now suing Lloyd’s of London, which says the policy was not in effect, Fox Business reported Tuesday.

Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Jake Ryan filed his lawsuit claiming Lloyd’s owes him millions and is trying to renege on a deal they allegedly agreed to last year, according to the article.

Mr. Ryan tore his ACL in 2018 as a rookie with the Green Bay Packers. He said he bought a $5 million injury insurance policy in case he got hurt, TMZ Sports reported Monday.

Here’s the play-by-play: Mr. Ryan claims he had a deal in place on July 25, 2018, and he tore his ACL on July 30, 2018. Yet he admits he didn’t pay his $150,000 premium until the day after his injury, arguing it didn’t matter because the policy was already agreed-to, according to the report.

Lloyd’s denied his claim, insisting the deal wasn't officially done by the time he tore his knee, according to the report.
