Australia to consider government-backed cyclone reinsurance pool

The Australian government and insurers will study the feasibility of a government-backed cyclone reinsurance pool as a possible measure to reduce premiums in the North, Asia Insurance Review reports. Campbell Fuller, spokesman for the Insurance Council of Australia, said the feasibility study would include "developing a list of communities where priority physical mitigation projects might be effective, in consultation with local stakeholders."
