Allianz specialty unit names head of financial lines

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE, the corporate insurance unit of Allianz SE, on Friday said it has named Shanil Williams global head of financial lines, effective immediately.

He succeeds Bernard Poncin, who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities, the insurer said in a statement.

Mr. Williams is based in Munich and will report to Thomas Sepp, chief underwriting officer corporate in the AGCS board of management. In addition to the day-to-day leadership of the global team, Mr. Williams will review future strategy and setup for financial lines.

Mr. Williams, who joined AGCS in 2016 when he was appointed country manager for New Zealand, has been global head of commercial for financial lines since August 2018, the statement said. Mr. Poncin had been global head of financial lines for AGCS since April 2012.

On Thursday, Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE announced it had named Joachim Müller to be CEO, effective Dec. 1.
