Generali's net profit rises nearly 17%

Italy-based insurer Assicurazioni Generali SpA's net profit increased 16.6% year-over-year to €2.2 billion ($2.4 billion) in the first nine months, 1asig reports. Operating income grew more than 9% to nearly €4 billion, while gross written premiums went up 3.2% to €51.4 billion. General insurance premiums rose 4.3% to surpass €16 billion.
