Sedgwick Claims Management Services Inc. on Wednesday announced the launch of a crisis care program for its field case management services in workers compensation.

The crisis care program will provide 24/7/365 support and end-to-end resources to manage all aspects of care following a violent workplace event, catastrophic incident or complex clinical situation, the claims manager said in a statement.

This program is available to clients who use Sedgwick’s field case management services and is designed for catastrophic injuries including acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, severe burns, multiple trauma, workplace violence and mass casualty situations, among others, according to the statement.

Following crises or challenging events, care and services would be coordinated telephonically through a crisis care nurse during the crisis response period, with nurses assessing the situation in real time and deploying appropriate resources. Such resources include field nurses, on-site behavioral health specialists, medical equipment experts, physicians and access to care facilities, according to the statement.
