A contractor who faked a fall on ice cubes that he’d thrown on the floor got his comeuppance Wednesday when he was sentenced for filing a false insurance claim.
Alexander Goldinsky was working at a business in Woodbridge, New Jersey, last year when he claimed he fell and hurt himself in the firm’s cafeteria.
Unbeknownst to Mr. Goldinsky, he was caught on surveillance camera — and far from accidentally slipping, he evidently put some ice in a cup, strategically spilled some, carefully lowered himself until he was flat on his back and lay apparently helpless on the floor.
The clip went viral earlier this year after he was charged with fraud and theft by deception.
According to NBC 4 New York, Mr. Goldinsky’s slip up led to two years’ probation, 14 hours of community service and $600 in restitution that he was ordered to pay.
Travelers can quite literally get a “rain check” if their vacation is ruined by poor weather if they have purchased a rainy day protection policy.
