Swiss Re Ltd. named Claudia Cordioli chief financial officer of its global reinsurance business unit, the reinsurer said in a statement Tuesday.
The appointment is effective Feb. 1, 2020.
She will succeed Gerhard Lohmann, who is pursuing an opportunity outside Swiss Re and will leave near the end of February 2020, the statement said.
Ms. Cordioli will report to Moses Ojeisekhoba, CEO reinsurance, and become a member of the reinsurance management team, based in Zurich.
She now serves as head of western and southern Europe for reinsurance at Swiss Re, leading business in 15 countries. Her successor will be announced “in due course,” the statement said.
Ms. Cordioli last month was named one of the 2019 Business Insurance Women to Watch.
Swiss Re Ltd. has appointed Russell Higginbotham as chief executive of reinsurance for Asia and regional president, starting July 8, Finews.asia reported. Mr. Higginbotham is currently serving as chief executive of reinsurance for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He replaces Jayne Plunkett, who has left Swiss Re to pursue other career opportunities.
