BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Alex Kaplan

AmWINS Group Inc. said Monday it has named Alex Kaplan to the new position of executive vice president for alternative risk.

Mr. Kaplan, who is Washington, D.C.-based, will lead a new strategy around the development of parametric solutions and other bespoke coverages on both a stand-alone basis and in conjunction with other traditional and nontraditional solutions for client risk transfer, Charlotte, North Carolina-based AmWINS said in its statement.

He will also be responsible for developing new products and capital sources for AmWINS, its retail customers and their clients.

Before joining AmWINS, Mr. Kaplan spent 11 years at Swiss Re, most recently as head of North America for the company’s public sector solutions unit.

AmWINS said last month it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Scottsdale, Arizona-based Stealth Partner Group, a full-service general agent that specializes in medical stop-loss insurance.
