The Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration is set to present its first Spanish-language conference addressing Spanish-speaking workers’ rights to a safe workplace, safety in construction and manufacturing, among other topics, Oregon OSHA announced on Wednesday.

The free Nov. 19 conference in Salem, Oregon, will include presentations in Spanish by workplace safety and health professionals, medical providers and other experts. It comes at a time where Spanish-speaking workers represent the highest percentage of injuries and fatalities in the workplace, experts have said.

“This conference reflects our ongoing mission to improve outreach to the most vulnerable workers by offering an event entirely in the language of many such workers,” Oregon OSHA Administrator Michael Wood said in a statement.
