Plant pests can cause hundreds of billions of euros of damage

A paper from the European Commission's Joint Research Center said that new plant and crop pests and the Asian long-horned beetle could cause hundreds of billions of euros worth of crop damage in Europe, ANSAmed reported. Xylella fastidiosa bacterium, threatening the Mediterranean area, has the potential to cause more than €6 billion ($6.7 billion) of damage.
