Beazley makes commercial property appointments

Beazley PLC said Tuesday it has appointed former Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Co. executive Matthew Westhoff as head of its U.S. large commercial property business based in New York.

Mr. Westhoff, who previously led the Northeast region property underwriting team at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty, and has more than 16 years of industry experience, will report to Simon Jackson, Beazley’s global head of commercial property, the insurer said in a statement.

Ashley Irwin, formerly a property underwriter at Ironshore, part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group Inc., has also joined Beazley as a commercial property underwriter, based in New York, the insurer said.
