BB&T unit hires execs for new Kansas City transportation office

McGriff, Seibels & Williams Inc., a subsidiary of BB&T Insurance Holdings Inc., has opened a Kansas City office to serve the transportation sector, the Birmingham, Alabama-based specialty broker said in a statement Monday.
Stacy Spurgeon, Paula Brennan and Vicky Owens will focus on transportation companies and their risks related to the use of contractors, the statement said, using programs to support both parties.
Ms. Spurgeon, vice president, joins from Avant Brokerage LLC, where she was most recently vice president of the Kansas City and Jacksonville offices, the statement said.
Ms. Brennan, who was director of operations at Avant, was named an assistant vice president.
Ms. Owens, who was appointed account executive, joins from Specialty Risk Inc., where she was a marketing executive.
