Marsh & McLennan Agency promotes Hering to vice chairman

Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC, Marsh LLC’s middle market agency subsidiary, has named Paul Hering as vice chairman.

In this newly created role, Mr. Hering is responsible for leading the agency’s key growth strategies, including talent development, acquisitions and insurer relations, Marsh & McLennan Agency said Monday in a statement.

Mr. Hering, who is based in San Diego, will continue to serve on the agency’s national strategy team helping to develop and execute key corporate initiatives.

Mr. Hering previously served as chairman of Marsh & McLennan Agency’s West region, a role he assumed after 16 years as CEO of Barney & Barney LLC, a San Diego-based insurance agency acquired by Marsh & McLennan Agency in 2014.

John Doyle, president and CEO of Marsh LLC, said during Marsh’s second-quarter conference call that “MMA is our priority in the near term as we integrate” Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC.
