US tariff on EU exports to hurt Scotch whisky sales

Karen Betts, chief executive of the Scotch Whisky Association, said that sales of Scotch whisky could drop by 20%, or £1 billion ($1.3 billion), in the next 12 months due to tariffs on exports to the United States, Jersey Evening Post reported. Starting Oct. 18, the U.S. has imposed a tariff of 25% on exports of single malts from Scotland.
