Plastic industry frets over plans to limit single-use items

Jigish Doshi, president of Plastindia Foundation, said that India's plastic industry is expected to lose up to INR 400 billion ($5.6 billion) due to uncertainty around the government's efforts to limit use of single-use plastic items like bags, bottles and cups, Business Today reported. The proposal had dismayed consumer firms, which use plastic in packaging for everything from sodas and biscuits to ketchup and shampoo.
