Pork ban to cost meat industry $1 billion

The Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc. said that a continued ban on hogs and pork products from Luzon could cause 55 billion Philippine pesos ($1.1 billion) worth of damage to the local processed meat industry, GMA News reports. Rex Agarrado, spokesperson of the association, said that 56 of the 81 provinces in the country have banned pork from Luzon to prevent the spread of African swine fever virus.
