Pork production falls as African swine fever spreads

Fitch Solutions Inc. expects pork production to fall in Southeast Asia this year as African swine fever spreads to Vietnam, China, South Korea, the Philippines and Thailand, Singapore Business Review reports. Production is expected to decline 5% year-over-year in Vietnam, 3.7% in China and 1.5% in the Philippines, with the downward trend expected to continue in 2020. Vietnam has culled 4.7 million pigs, while China has killed 2 million.
