Axis Capital expects to pay out $175 million for cat claims

Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. expects to pay up to $175 million in natural catastrophe claims in the third quarter, The Royal Gazette reports. Axis said the estimate includes full-limit losses from aggregate excess of loss reinsurance treaties that were also affected by other catastrophe and weather-related events during the year.
