Miner to pay more than $3 billion for dam disaster

Brazilian mining firm Vale SA expects to make payments related to the Brumadinho tailings dam rupture of $900 million-$1.15 billion this year and $1.5 billion-$2.1 billion in 2020, Yahoo Finance reports citing Zacks Equity Research. Vale expects to finish paying most of the expenses by 2021 for the January collapse of the tailings dam at Vale's Corrego do Feijao, which killed 300 people and caused extensive property and environmental damage.
