Utility chairman to step down following criticism for gift scandal

Makoto Yagi, chairman of Japan-based Kansai Electric Power Co., will step down following criticism for receiving $3 million worth of gifts from a former official of a town that hosts the company's nuclear power plant, The Japan Times reports citing sources. Kepco's president Shigeki Iwane is considering stepping down by the end of the year.
