Marsh JLT Specialty boosts aviation with former Swiss Re, Aon execs

Marsh LLC on Tuesday said it has hired Tony Ambrose, former head of aviation at Swiss Re Ltd., and Martyn Holland, former head of aerospace at Aon PLC, as managing directors of Marsh JLT Specialty’s aviation practice in London.

Julie Meyer, a former underwriter at Swiss Re, and Stephen Murray, a former underwriting manager at Global Aerospace Inc., are also joining Marsh JLT Specialty’s aviation practice in New York, Marsh said in a statement.

As managing director, Mr. Ambrose, who is expected to join Marsh next month, will serve as a senior leader in the aviation practice, working across all product lines, the brokerage said.

Also serving as managing director, Mr. Holland will focus on developing the brokerage’s aerospace services and products and is expected to join early next year, Marsh said in the statement.

Both Mr. Ambrose and Mr. Holland will report to Andy Smith, chairman and CEO of the U.K. aviation practice at Marsh JLT Specialty, Marsh said.

New York-based Ms. Meyer and Mr. Murray will both report to Joe Braunstein, U.S. general aviation leader for Marsh JLT Specialty.

In her role as vice president, Ms. Meyer, who joined Marsh on Oct. 1, will focus on all aspects of general aviation, Marsh said in the statement.

In his role as senior vice president, Mr. Murray, who is expected to join the firm later this month, will focus on U.S.-based general aviation and aerospace business, Marsh said in the statement.

The four appointments “will benefit our aviation and aerospace clients globally in managing the increasingly complex risk they now face,” Simon Harker, global head of aviation, Marsh JLT Specialty, said in the statement.

The four appointments follow the recent departure of former senior Marsh JLT Specialty aviation executives Bruce Fine and Oyin Heath to BGC Insurance Group’s new specialist global aviation and aerospace brokerage.
