Hub buys agency owned by former NFL quarterback

Hub International Ltd. has acquired Doug Johnson Insurance LLC, a Gainesville, Florida-based independent insurance agency owned by former National Football League quarterback Doug Johnson.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Doug Johnson Insurance provides personal, commercial and employee benefits coverage, and Mr. Johnson and his team will join Hub Florida, Hub said Thursday in a statement.
The acquisition “demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the Gainesville region and our desire to continue to grow in Florida,” said Chris Gardner, CEO of Hub Florida.
Hub acquired Gainesville-based Scarborough, a multiline insurance provider, in 2017.
Hub International Ltd. is the world’s fifth-largest insurance brokerage, according to Business Insurance’s latest ranking.
