Floods at coal mine halts production for a month

An official at coal mining firm Coal India Ltd. said that floods at the company's mine in Dipka, Chhattisgarh, will halt production for at least a month, News18 reports citing Reuters. The mine produces more than 30 million tons of thermal coal per year and accounts for around 5% of the company's overall output. The mine supplies coal to numerous power plants in eastern and central India, which will be left scrambling for fuel.
