Insurers support investment in natural disaster mitigation

The insurance industry has welcomed the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority's call to increase investment in natural disaster mitigation, with an aim to improve the affordability and availability of general insurance in Northern Australia, Mirage News reports. Rob Whelan, chief executive of the council, said, "At present only 3% of disaster funding goes towards prevention and 97% towards recovery."
