BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The Pennsylvania Senate on Wednesday unanimously passed a bill that expands the list of law enforcement officials eligible for certain disability benefits if injured on the job.

Benefits under current law are only available to certain job titles such as police officers, sheriff deputies and firefighters.

S.B. 439, which passed 49-0 and has advanced to the state Assembly, now makes benefits such as paid medical and salary available to probation officers and university campus police officers whose employers are enrolled in the state disability program; state park rangers and trainees working in the state parks; and port and housing authority police in certain counties.

The bill would go into effect 60 days after it passes the Assembly and is signed by the governor.
