Aon PLC on Tuesday launched a claims platform that uses artificial intelligence to read claims notes and improve claims adjuster productivity, with the goal of enabling U.S. and Canadian insurers to boost their claims performance.

Partnering with artificial intelligence technology provider CLARA Analytics Inc., Aon’s ClaimsMonitor X platform leverages natural language processing to read open claims notes and to identify if adjusters are following best practices, Aon said in a statement.

If claims best practices are not being followed, an alert will be sent to a supervisor, Aon said.

“Having the ability to focus on only those claims that require intervention will increase the productivity of a claims supervisor’s time,” Aon said in the statement.

This approach builds on Aon Inpoint ClaimsMonitor software tool for claims auditing by extracting unstructured data using natural language processing and artificial intelligence, Aon said.

The new platform enables insurers to review claims across all business lines and identifies areas for managing costs while meeting insurers’ obligations to policyholders, Aon said.
