Tech company opens online portal to independents

Bold Penguin Inc. has opened its agent terminal online platform to independent agents, the technology company said in a statement Friday.

The agent-facing technology was previously open only to top 100 brokers, the statement said. The tool allows users to triage, quote and bind commercial insurance.

The platform is available in all 50 states and coverage types include general liability, workers compensation, professional liability, business owner's policy and bonds, the statement said.

Bold Penguin technology has been adopted by insurers including Hiscox Ltd. and CNA Financial Corp., the statement said, and to date helped handle over 950,000 small to midsize businesses get a commercial quote.

"By implementing rules specific to my agency's preferences into the platform, we get the proposals we want when we want them.
