Former Frank B. Hall CEO John McCaffrey dies

Former brokerage executive John McCaffrey died Sept. 14 at age 82.

Mr. McCaffrey, who was born and raised in Detroit, first worked for Travelers Insurance Co. in Milwaukee before joining family firm Byrnes McCaffrey in Detroit.

In 1971, he joined Frank B. Hall & Co., moved to Connecticut and rose to the position of CEO of the brokerage. He left Frank B. Hall in 1987, joined what would become Aon PLC and later started a fine arts insurance brokerage. Aon bought Frank B. Hall in 1992.

In 1998, he joined Willis Corroon, which would later become Willis Towers Watson PLC.

Mr. McCaffrey is survived by his wife Carroll, four children and eight grandchildren.
