Mario Vitale joins cyber specialty firm

Longtime industry executive Mario Vitale has joined cyber security and analytics firm Arceo.ai as president.

In the newly created role, Mr. Vitale will work to expand the insurance-related business of San Francisco-based Arceo.ai, which is the trading name of Arceo Labs Inc.

The firm was launched in 2016 to offer cyber security and cyber analytics services to insurance industry firms.

Arceo.ai has “married up cyber security and cyber analytics, but we see also the possibilities of marrying that with insurance,” Mr. Vitale said in an interview.

Currently, Areco.ai helps insurers offer rating, quoting and cyber policy platforms with brokers and helps brokers interact with insurers, he said.

“My job will be, in addition to advancing our sales in those areas, to look more at the risk transfer process and how that can be more efficient,” Mr. Vitale said. “I’ll help build the bridge between cyber security, cyber analytics and cyber services with insurance.”

Mr. Vitale, who is based in New York, has held senior executive roles at several industry companies. He retired as CEO of Aspen Insurance, a unit of Bermuda-based Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd., in 2016. Prior to Aspen, he served as CEO, global corporate for Zurich Insurance Co. Ltd. and CEO of Willis North America, among other positions.

After leaving Aspen, he worked as a mergers and acquisitions consultant for various private equity firms, among other things. He joined Arceo.ai’s advisory board in 2018.
