Nippon Steel suspends furnace operations after typhoon damage

Japanese steel manufacturer Nippon Steel Corp. suspended operations of one of its basic-oxygen furnaces at Kimitsu Steel Works in Chiba prefecture on Sep. 9 due to damage caused by typhoon Faxai, Reuters reported. The company might need to reduce the output of blast furnaces if the operations of the basic-oxygen furnace remain suspended for long, the spokeswoman said.
