TigerRisk snags another Third Point executive

Manoj Gupta, president of Third Point Reinsurance Ltd.’s U.S. subsidiary, has joined TigerRisk Partners LLC as chief operating officer, the Stamford, Connecticut-based reinsurance brokerage said Wednesday.

New York-based Mr. Gupta takes the title of chief operating officer from TigerRisk president and former CEO of Third Point Re Robert Bredahl, who was named president and chief operating officer in June.

Mr. Gupta brings “valuable expertise across a wide range of disciplines – underwriting, investment management, InsureTech, ILS, capital advisory – that will drive the future of the reinsurance industry,” Mr. Bredahl said in a statement.

Prior to serving as president of the hedge-fund-backed reinsurer’s U.S. subsidiary, Mr. Gupta held various senior-level positions at Third Point Re, including head of business development and executive vice president, underwriting, TigerRisk said in a statement.

Prior to joining Third Point, Re Mr. Gupta was lead portfolio manager for catastrophe reinsurance at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he launched three stand-alone catastrophe risk funds and placed reinsurance risk within the firm’s multistrategy hedge funds, TigerRisk said.
