Israeli telecom firm fined nearly $9 million

Israel's competition regulator has fined Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Corp. Ltd. 30 million Israeli shekels ($8.6 million) for abusing its monopolistic position in telecommunications infrastructure, Reuters reports. The regulator said Bezeq blocked competitors from deploying wired communications networks using the company's infrastructure. The authority has also fined a senior Bezeq official ILS 500,000 and plans to levy another ILS 8 million fine on the company for providing misinformation during the investigation.
