BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Sale of Business Insurance

I am pleased to announce the sale of Business Insurance Holdings, Inc. to Beacon International Group.

On October 30, 1967,  Business Insurance debuted as a publication of Crain Communications Inc. and quickly became the most significant, authoritative news and information source for executives concerned about risk financing, risk management, risk transfer and all the related fields that comprise the worlds of insurance and reinsurance.

As a former Risk Manager, broker, MGA owner and insurance industry entrepreneur, I had the privilege of buying Business Insurance in August 2016.  Together, with our incredibly talented team, we lead the company to a financial and operational turn around.  We regained the magazine's prominence, burnished its brand, and introduced new conferences and products. Happily, professionals across the risk management and insurance spectrum followed us again and gave us a loyalty that we have endeavored to earn every day.

Now, planning to continue its organic growth and expansion, I conferred with Pamela Newman, one of the most successful insurance brokers and strategic consultants in the field, and immensely talented insurance and claims executive, Jane Tutoki. The obvious path was to consolidate operations with Beacon International Group, led by Steve Acunto for better than 25 years. This will ensure the continued long life and substantial growth of Business Insurance under the direction of an entrepreneur with long standing industry relations and successes.

I would like to personally thank you, our incredible readers, loyal advertisers and supporters, and immensely talented staff for a great three-year ride, and wish Business Insurance continued success.
