Beacon International Group Inc. acquires Business Insurance

Beacon International Group Inc. has acquired Business Insurance Holdings Inc. publishers of Business Insurance, the leading national media and events hub serving insurance, reinsurance and risk management leaders for 52 years.

Business Insurance, based in Florida with administrative offices in Illinois and editorial offices across the country, was founded in 1967 by Crain Communications Inc. and acquired in 2016 by Adam Potter, who realized financial and operational refinements and growth.

According to Steve Acunto, chairman of Beacon International Group Inc., Business Insurance was an eminently desirable acquisition target given its prized content, diverse products, and substantial growth potential: “We are delighted with Business Insurance’s pull for its advertising clients, its loyal readership, its enviable presence in the market, its highly focused, seasoned staff and its muscular internet strengths. Mr. Acunto owns CINN Inc., publishers of the 130-year old Insurance Advocate which will be consolidated into Beacon International Group Inc.’s holdings.

Business Insurance, with a staff of 25 full-time and several freelance contributors, is led by Keith Kenner, publisher, Gavin Souter, editor, and Brian McGann, vice president, marketing.

Business Insurance publishes 12 print editions per year and daily, weekly and intraday news updates via email and social media to an audience measuring in the hundreds of thousands. Its editorial team covers every segment of the business of risk transfer, including news and opinion affecting insurance carriers, reinsurers, legal and insurtech enterprises; regulatory, legislative and court decisions; insurer results and trends; and the world of insurance professionals themselves. Rich with news of developments in risk assessment, risk financing, risk analytics and reinsuring, together with news of executive appointments, changes and trends, Business Insurance is a vital tool for industry executives. Its growing annual conference schedule draws national audiences to destinations across the country for one and two day programs such as its annual Innovation Awards, Women to Watch Awards (in New York and London), Insurance Diversity and Inclusion, and emerging areas such as the implications of cannabis, wildfires, the impact of AI, and cyber security. According to Mr. Acunto, additional conferences and editorial introductions are planned for 2020.
