Floods cause $533 million of damage in Russia

A Russian official said that floods have caused an estimated 35 billion Russian rubles ($533 million) worth of damage in the Irkutsk Region in Siberia in June and July, Tass reported. Leonid Stavitsky, deputy minister of construction and housing, said that the floods caused nearly RUB 11 billion worth of damage to homes and more than RUB 20 billion of damage to infrastructure and office buildings. The floods inundated nearly 10,900 houses and killed 25 people in the region.
