Storm stops flights, bullet trains

Heavy rainfall and strong winds forced the cancellation of nearly 1,000 flights in western Japan, The Japan Times reported. More than 230 domestic and international flights were canceled at Kansai International Airport in Osaka on Aug. 15 due to the storm. Additionally, bullet train services were either stopped and ferries connecting Shikoku and other parts of Japan were canceled.
