Dread fungus hits banana plantations in Colombia

Colombia has declared a national state of emergency after detecting a dread fungus in banana plantations in the La Guajira region, Science Mag reported. The Colombian agricultural institute plans to expand biosecurity efforts such as sanitary control measures at all ports, airports, and border points after eradicating plants on nearly 170 hectares of quarantined farmland.
